Semaglutide
What is it?
Semaglutide is a revolutionary injectable medication designed for chronic weight management. Administered once weekly, it serves as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, offering new hope to those seeking effective weight loss solutions.
Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, or GLP-1 RAs. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone, released in the gut in response to eating. By mimicking this hormone, semaglutide helps lower blood sugar, stimulate insulin production, and slow down gastric emptying. These actions collectively lead to reduced appetite and weight loss.

What to expect?
Bel Lavi Medical Aesthetics’ Nurse Practitioners will make the semaglutide treatment process convenient for patients. Injections will be administered once a week, on the same day, with the flexibility to choose any time of day and the option to take it with or without food. The injection is administered just under the skin (subcutaneously) in the abdomen, arm, or thigh.
While Semaglutide may cause mild side effects such as nausea and vomiting due to its impact on gastric emptying, the goal is to ensure minimal discomfort while assisting patients in losing 1-2 pounds per week and experiencing the full benefits of reduced appetite, cravings, and portion sizes. Dosing adjustments may be made every four weeks to achieve this objective.
